Public Invited to Masonic Open House October 23, 2016
LIBERTY, September 22, 2016 – Have you ever wondered what goes on in a Masonic Lodge? Have you ever wanted to know about the Masonic philosophy, its many charities, and community service activities? The Liberty Masonic Lodge #48 invites you to find out for yourself when they host an Open House on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2:00p.m to 4p.m.
All citizens are welcome to become better acquainted with our Lodge and activities by stopping by for a visit. This event provides the public an opportunity to tour the Lodge, meet Freemasons in their local community, and ask questions about the Fraternity.
Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest men’s fraternity. Thirteen signers of the Constitution and 14 U.S. Presidents, including George Washington, Harry Truman, and Gerald Ford, were Freemasons. Texas boasts over 80,000 Freemason members, making up 830 Lodges across the state. Texas heroes such as Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, William B. Travis, James Bowie, David Crocket, and many others are well known Masons of Texas history.
Masonic origins date back to the guilds of stonemasons who built castles and cathedrals during the middle ages. In modern times, members do not learn a vocational trade, but the tools and objects used in operative masonry have been adapted as symbols in the ceremonies of modern Freemasonry to teach moral lessons, brotherly love, and charity.
The Open House will be held from 2:00p.m-4:00p.m at the Liberty Lodge located at 500 Fannin St., Liberty, TX. There will be refreshments and information available on Masonry and the history of Masons in Liberty.
