Texas Parks and Wildlife Announces Lifetime License Winner

LIBERTY, January 28, 2016 – One lucky person will never have to buy another Texas hunting or fishing license for the rest of his life.

Fred Underwood of Dallas won the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s fall Lifetime License drawing for a Lifetime Super Combo License on Dec. 30, 2015. The drawing package also includes a one-year subscription to Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine.

“I never expected to win,” Underwood said. “I was just making a donation to TPWD. It was a surprise, but a welcome surprise.”

He transferred the license to his son, Frederick Underwood.

“My son is a regular hunter, and he’s very excited,” Underwood said. “We’re both very active in the field and really appreciate what TPWD does.”

All proceeds from the Lifetime License Drawing entry fees fund TPWD’s on-the-ground conservation efforts that help make Texas one of the most popular places in the country to hunt and fish. The fall drawing raised more than $60,000 to support Texas’ hunting and fishing programs, a nine percent increase from last year.

Texas residents have another chance to win a lifetime license coming up on June 30. Entries are on sale now through June 27 and can be purchased anywhere fishing and hunting licenses are sold. Each entry costs $5, and participants may enter as many times as they wish.

Visit the Lifetime License Drawing page for more information, including contest drawing rules and how to purchase entries.
