Stolen Car Recovered

DAYTON, November 16, 2016 – On Monday November 14, 2016 at around 8:00pm it was advised that the owner of a stolen vehicle that was reported stolen in Liberty several days earlier, had located the vehicle here in Dayton at the Valero gas station at the corner of SH 321 and FM 1960.

The Dayton Police department was contacted and upon arrival, it was found that Deandre Grays, age 24. who was in possession of the vehicle at the time, did not have permission to use the vehicle.

Upon further investigation it was also discovered that Grays also had in his possession a plastic wrapper containing a clear, crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

After officers checked the vehicle nothing else was found, it was then turned over to its owner, Barbie Skarpa age 39 of Liberty.

Deandre Grays was then transported to Liberty County Jail where he was charged with Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, PC31.07, a State Jail Felony and Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams.

Skarpa has been the subject of recent reports after being charged with Impersonating a Public Servant on November 4, 2016.
