Hazardous Weather Outlook

LIBERTY, March 7, 2016 - A POTENT UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL APPROACH SOUTHEAST TEXAS ON TUESDAY. A SERIES OF UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE ROTATING AROUND THIS FEATURE WILL BRING PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

A STRONG DISTURBANCE ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON COUPLED WITH STRONG HEATING AND MODEST INSTABILITY COULD YIELD STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY. THE SEVERE WEATHER EVENT ON TUESDAY WILL TRANSITION TO MORE OF A HEAVY RAIN/FLOOD THREAT BY EARLY WEDNESDAY. ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED THURSDAY AND FRIDAY BUT THE INTENSITY AND COVERAGE SHOULD BEGIN TO WANE. RAINFALL ACROSS SOUTHEAST BETWEEN TUESDAY AND FRIDAY WILL AVERAGE BETWEEN 5 AND 7 INCHES NORTHEAST...3 TO 5 INCHES OVER THE CENTRAL AREAS AND 2 TO 4 INCHES OVER THE SOUTHWEST. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE IF TRAINING OF STORMS DEVELOPS.

IN ADDITION TO THE PRECIPITATION...STRONG AND PERSISTENT SOUTHEAST WINDS WILL PRODUCE BREEZY CONDITIONS MONDAY...TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. TIDES WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE AND SOME MINOR COASTAL FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG THE UPPER TEXAS COAST LATE TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
