Attempted Kidnapping of 13 year old boy at gunpoint

PLUM GROVE, February 9w, 2016 – At approximately 3:30pm this evening, according to Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Strait, the 13 year old boy got off the Cleveland I.S.D. bus near his home in the 3700 block of CR 3479 which is in the newly established sub-divisions in Plum Grove near the City of Cleveland. As the young man got off the bus, he reported he saw two male subjects in a small gold colored Lincoln automobile driving towards him very slowly. As the car got near him, the two subjects got out of the car and both men were seen wearing mask which resembled a “smiley” face with yellow and red coloring on the mask. One of the subjects told the boy to “get in the car”. The student told them “no” and attempted to walk away. This is when one of the subjects pulled what the young man described as a “small black gun” and again demanded that he “get in the car”. At this point, the boy started running towards his home and the two subjects drove away.

Deputy Strait said the young man was visibly upset and frightened which contributed to a rather vague description of the two suspects. However, the student described the two suspects from their dialect and skin complexion as being young Hispanic males of undetermined height, weight or exact age.

Sheriff Rader will be assigning much of the north side patrol time to that area and also is asking the public to assist in reporting any suspicious persons or vehicle that might fit this description to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 or to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867. The identity of anyone calling Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and a cash reward can be given for information leading to the arrest of these suspects.
