Three Arrested During Traffic Stop
LIBERTY, December 27, 2016 – On Thursday, December 22, 2016 at approximately 12:41 AM, an Officer with the Liberty Police Department observed a tan 1994 Chevrolet carry all bearing TX temp tags traveling eastbound in the 3500 block Hwy 90. The vehicle was observed veering over the white fog line failing to maintain a single lane. The Officer then conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle due to not having a driver's license. The driver was also found to have a suspended driver's licenses.
While speaking to the driver, identified as Marjoria Marie Brents age 25, the Officer noticed that she became nervous as her hands began to shake. The Officer also spoke to the back seat passenger and determined that his story did not match to the driver's story on where they were headed. The back seat passenger also became nervous and his hands started to shake. The Officer then spoke to the front seat passenger and his story matched the back seat passengers but he became physically nervous and his hands could be seen shaking. The Officer then asked for consent to search the vehicle and the driver stated that he could.
The search resulted in approximately 13G of methamphetamine and 15G of marijuana. The Officer then read each individual their constitutional rights and none of them claimed ownership of any of the contraband discovered. All the substances that were located were in close reach of all occupants thus all were arrested for the same charge of the combined weight of the Methamphetamine.
The three subjects were then transported to the Liberty County Jail.
