Trinity River Update

LIBERTY, March 22, 2016 - Levels along the Trinity River remain near where they have been for the last two weeks.

This is the result of the constant discharge rate of 49,300 cubic feet per second (cfs) from the Livingston Dam.

The Trinity River is running approx. 2.5 feet above flood stage in Liberty and approximately 2 feet above flood stage in Moss Bluff.

We have no reports of water inside homes along the Trinity River, however, water continues to cover roads into many of these neighborhoods.

Most residents in the affected areas are remaining in their elevated structures and some are traveling back and forth to their vehicles by boat. There have been no request for sheltering and FEMA has not advised their decision on whether or not Liberty County will be declared a federal disaster area.

There may not be enough damage along the Trinity River for this event to qualify for federal assistance, however, there were a total of 8 homes reported damaged along the San Jacinto River.

Our office will continue to monitor and update as conditions warrant.
