LIBERTY, January 15, 2016 – For the first time since December 9th, the release from the Livingston Dam has finally fallen below 50,000 cubic feet per second (cfs).
The current release is now 49,300 cfs and the lake level is continuing to fall.
The current river level at Romayor is 35.1 feet, while the level in Liberty and Moss Bluff remain in major flood stage,Liberty at 29.4 and Moss Bluff at 14.7.
The only concern for the weekend is a rain event scheduled for Saturday. This rain event could set us back again,if heavy rain falls over Lake Livingston.
We are hopeful the rain is light and fast moving, however,we have been in this position before several times and have not had much success.
With all this said, IF we can continue to stay fairly dry over the next few days, the river will slowly recede and roads in riverfront subdivisions will re-open. The folks on the north end of the river will see relief first of course, followed by those around Liberty and Moss Bluff a few days later.
Liberty County Emergency Management officials will continue to monitor conditions and update as warranted.
