Honey Harvest Day

LIBERTY, July 1, 2015 - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is hosting a Honey Harvest Day presented by the Liberty County Beekeepers on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 501 Palmer Ave. in Liberty, Texas from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about how beekeepers get honey from bees are invited to come!

Liberty County Beekeepers will be extracting honey, so come see how a honey extractor works and how one harvests honey from frames of a honey comb. You will also be able to get a closer look at a queen and the worker bees without coming in contact with bees. Raw local honey will be for sale and examples of bee hive equipment will be available. Most importantly, local beekeepers will be there to talk more about how to start your own hives and offer suggestions on hive management.

The mission of the Liberty County Beekeepers is “Sharing our passion for honey bees with our local community through education and assistance. Liberty County Beekeepers is dedicated to the preservation and the art of beekeeping.” For more information contact the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office in Liberty County at (936)334-3230 or email info@libertycountybeekeepers.org.
