DWI in Regency Place

LIBERTY, April 14, 2015 – On April 7, 2015 around 1:00 AM Officer with the City of Liberty Police Department were dispatched to Regency Street for a suspicious sound reported by residents.

Once on the scene the Officer discovered a brick mail box had been destroyed. While checking the area Officers discovered a damaged vehicle on Regal Street and made contact with Michael Thomes Welps age 25.

Welps admitted to striking the mail box.

Officer administered the standard field sobriety test and Welps performed poorly.

Welps was taken into custody, charged with DWI and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
