Trinity River Statement

LIBERTY, May 18, 2015 - Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch sent in the following remarks today.

We continue to monitor Trinity River flood conditions this morning. Currently the release at the Lake Livingston Dam is 55,600 cubic feet per second.

Current data as of 10 am indicate that the Trinity River in Liberty is at 28.07 feet and will rise to 28.6 feet.

Moss Bluff is at 13.73 feet and is expected to rise to 14.3 feet.

These numbers may change if more water is released from the dam over the next few days and residents living along the river should be prepared for an extended high water event.

There are no reports of homes being flooded by the high water, however, roads into many of the subdivisions will be flooded.

Residents are urged to monitor conditions closely and be prepared for high water conditions along the Trinity River.

Monitor local media and if you decide to leave your home and stay elsewhere until the water recedes, please make decisions during daylight hours as travel at night in flood conditions is very dangerous not only to residents but to first responders as well.

We will update as conditions warrant.
