Intoxicated Motorcycle Rider Arrested on Flooded Road
LIBERTY, June 23, 2015 - On June 20, 2015 Officer were called to the area of FM 2684 and FM 3361 in reference to a one vehicle accident. On arrival the Officer made contact with an individual who was getting onto a motorcycle on a flooded roadway. The Officer asked the individual what happened and he stated that he was driving down the road and got in deep water and flooded his motorcycle.
The Officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed that the suspect, identified as Stevie Wayne Theus age 55, was having a hard time standing.
The Officer administered a series of field sobriety tests and the suspect performed poorly.
The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Liberty County Jail where a breath specimen was provided and found to be over 0.15. The Blood Alcohol Level was 0.164.
Theus was charged with DWI and placed in the Liberty County Jail.
