Suspect in Hit and Run Arrested

DAYTON, September 3, 2015 - On September 2, 2015 at approx. 6pm the Dayton Police Department was asked by Liberty Police Department to be on look out for a white passenger vehicle involved in a hit and run wreck inside the city of Liberty, and the vehicle was last seen headed toward Dayton.

Officer Leger located and attempted to stop the vehicle on US 90 at Main street and the attempted to evade.  After a short pursuit the vehicle crashed at US 90 and the Railroad Tracks.

The Driver Julio Sanchez 23 year old H/M of Liberty, Texas was taken in to custody and transported to Liberty County Jail without incident and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention in Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Fictitious License Plate.  Sanchez is also being held for ICE.

The Dayton Police Department would like to thank Texas Department of Public Safety and Liberty Police Department for their assistance with the Pursuit.  

Sanchez was driving a white Cadillac that struck a gray Honda in the 1000 block of US 90 at Georgia Street in Liberty about 15 minutes before it crashed in Dayton. Sanchez fled the scene of that accident.

The Honda was traveling westbound on US 90 and was struck in the passenger side.

The City of Liberty Police Department is pursuing charges on Sanchez of accident involving damage to vehicle.
