Tarkington Exxon Robbed

TARKINGTON, January 14, 2015 - At approximately 6:pm Tuesday evening, a lone gunman walked into the Exxon/Mobil station on Hwy. 105 in Tarkington and demanded money from the station operator while pointing a black semi-automatic pistol at her. After getting an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled the scene in what was described as a black 4 dr. Chevrolet  Silverado pick-up truck with a chrome “diamond-plated” tool box in the bed of the truck.  The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed, east on Hwy. 105. It is possible, according to witness accounts, that a second person may have been involved as the driver of the pick-up truck.

Responding Sheriff’s Deputy Stephanie Walden said the store manager described the gunman as a young male, race uncertain, wearing a dark jacket and a dark full-face mask. The suspect was wearing eye glasses and “skinny” jeans. The store manager told Dep. Walden the young gunman appeared to be very nervous during the entire robbery. At the present time, Dep. Walden is reviewing the security camera video footage for additional information on the description of both the vehicle and the robbery suspect.

Anyone having information regarding this robbery suspect is ask to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 and provide that information or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392 -STOP (7867) that can pay up to $1,000 for the arrest of the person(s) responsible. All callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous.
