Severe Weather Statement

LIBERTY, April 17, 2015 – Thunderstorms will bring the risk of severe weather to Southeast Texas late this afternoon and tonight. The main threats will be flooding, large hail and damaging winds. An isolated tornado or two will also possible. The main period of concern is 5 pm to midnight, although can't rule out an isolated severe storm before then.

Given saturation of the ground and elevated streams streams and creeks from previous rainfall in many areas, the greatest threat may be flooding in areas that again receive heavy rainfall. A flash flood watch is in effect through Saturday morning for all of Southeast Texas. Stay tuned for other watches and warnings that may be needed later today and tonight.

Remember the greatest loss of life from flash flooding is from people driving into flooded roadways. Remember to spread the word not attempt to cross flooded roads. The video linked here is a good way to get the message across through social media, etc.
