Heavy Rainfall Threat

LIBERTY, March 19, 2015 - A storm system will approach from the west on Friday and combine with well above normal moisture and a slow moving front to produce a heavy rainfall threat.

The heavy rainfall threat will likely begin Friday afternoon across western areas and slowly shift east/southeast Friday night into Saturday morning with the front. The precipitation should taper off across eastern areas Saturday evening.

Widespread 1 to 3 inches are expected with isolated amounts of 4 to 6 inches possible.

We are monitoring the flood potential given the nearly saturated grounds. We still have several rivers/creeks that are near or slightly above bankfull. As forecast confidence grows, a Flash Flood Watch may be issued for all or portions of Southeast Texas.
