Man Arrested for Assault of Public Servant

LIBERTY, June 16, 2015 – On June 13, 2015 at 9:15 PM Corporal Frank Longoria attempted to make a traffic stop in the 300 block of bowie Street on a suspected DWI driver.

The driver pulled behind the La Cantina Mexican Bar in the 1000 block of MLK.

The driver exited the vehicle and was uncooperative.

He refused to comply with orders given by the Officer. At one point he reached into his right front picket afer being told not to. The Officer deployed his taser which was not effective. The driver then charged at the Officer striking him in the forehead with his right fist.

The Officer attempted to subdue the driver how continued to fight the Officer until a bar patron came out to assist. The bar patron helped take the driver to the ground where the Officer was able to put one hand cuff on the driver identified as Ricardo Montelongo, Jr. The Officer then had to wait until a second Officer arrived to place the man’s other hand in handcuffs.

Montelongo was arrested, charged with Assault on a Public Servant and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Bond was set by Justice of the Peace Stephen Hebert at $150,000 dollars.
