Early Morning DWI
LIBERTY, January 21, 2015 - On January 18, 2015 a caller notified the City of Liberty Police Department around 1:30AM of a Toyota pickup truck parked the wrong was coming from Ames. The vehicle was moving and in the current lane of traffic.
The responding Officer noticed three vehicles traveling north on the 146 Bypass which were keeping their distance and traveling at a slow rate.
The driver of the truck got into the turn lane at Wal-Mart an and turned his blinker on then proceeded to get into the opposite lane of traffic and missed the driveway by Chili’s restaurant.
The driver then continued northbound in the southbound lanes of the Bypass followed by the Officer with his emergency equipment on.
The driver exhibited the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and was confused about the time and his location.
City of Liberty EMS was called and determined that all of his vital signs were stable and Meyers wanted to be transported to the hospital.
Meyers was discharged a short time later and performed abbreviated field sobriety test that was cut short due to a lack of balance.
Meyers admitted to drinking nine beers.
Meyers refused a breath sample and a blood search warrant was issued signed by Judge Chambers.
Meyers was transported back to the hospital where blood was drawn and then transported to the Liberty County Jail charged with DWI.
