Man Arrested for DWI on Main Street

LIBERTY, September 9, 2015 – Around 1:00 PM on September 4, 2015 an Officer with the City of Liberty Police Department observed a Hyundai Sonata Sedan, silver in color, in the grass on the side of the Southbound lane facing Northbound in the 4100 block of North Main Street.

An Hispanic male was sitting in the driver’s seat with the door open. Several witnesses observed the man operating the Hyundai car traveling northbound on North Main Street.

Witnesses observed the car pull out in front of a truck traveling northbound, and then cross the Southbound lane into oncoming traffic. The subject went off the road in the grass on the side of the Southbound lane.

The Officer made contact with the subject identifiied as Jason McCune of Hardin age 28 and smelled a strong odor from what appeared to be marijuana. The Officer requested the man to step out of the vehicle and observed the man to be unsteady on his feet.

The Officer conducted a series of stand field sobriety tests and the defendant scored poorly.  McCune provided a voluntary blood specimen and was later transported to the Liberty County Jail charged with DWI Second Offense.
