Mail Boxes Damaged in Hardin

HARDIN, April 29, 2015 – The Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher’s office began receiving numerous calls from citizens in the Hardin area early on Monday morning, April 27th.  regarding several mail boxes that were severely damaged apparently in the early morning hours. Deputy Darrell Werner who made the initial investigation reported that over twenty mail boxes had been damaged early Monday morning and that calls were continuing to come in on Tuesday by citizens who were just now finding their mail boxes destroyed.

Dep. Werner further reported that most of the mail boxes damaged are on CR 2890 but several more were damaged and destroyed on CR 2003 North and CR 2007 North. He also stated that one resident had a security camera pointed towards the road in front of their home and it filmed a suspect vehicle there. The video is being studied in an effort to determine the make and model of the vehicle and the license number if possible.

The person or persons responsible for this offense will be charged with Criminal Mischief when arrested. Anyone having information about the suspect(s) who damaged these mail boxes are urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (926) 336-4500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the persons responsible and your identity will remain confidential.
