Burglary of Motor Vehicle in Mont Belvieu
MONT BELVIEU, January 20, 2015 - On Monday at approximately 11:30pm, Mont Belvieu Police Department Officers observed two suspicious persons (w/m's) in the parking lot of Motel 6 (located in the 8900 block of SH 146).
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the subjects were involved in a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle in the parking lot of Motel 6. The suspects, Kade Wesley Wilkins, 21 yoa, of Channelview and James Dean Tankersley, Jr., 19 yoa, of Dayton, were placed in-custody. During the search of both suspects, a Smith and Wesson 40 caliber handgun (stolen in a previous BMV in Mont Belvieu) was located in the boot of Wilkins. Both Wilkins and Tankersley have been residing at the Motel 6 for the last week. Other items, believed to be stolen from past Burglary of Motor Vehicles in Mont Belvieu, were also located in the possession of both Wilkins and Tankersley.
Wilkins was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Tankersley was charged with Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Both Wilkins and Tankersley were transported to the Municipal Jail awaiting arraignment by Municipal Judge Larry Cryer and will then be transferred to the Chambers County Jail.
During the past week, the Mont Belvieu Police Department has received numerous reports of Burglary of Motor Vehicles in the Motel 6 Parking Lot as well as in other parking lots in the 8900 block of SH 146.
The investigation into the other Burglary of Motor Vehicles is on-going.
