Police Arrest Local Man for Drug Possession

LIBERTY, October 26, 2015 - On October 20, 2015 an Officer with the Liberty police Department conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet car for traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of FM 563 and Hwy 90.

Upon talking to the occupants in the vehicle they both seemed to be extremely nervous.

The Officer separated the two and requested a search of the vehicle. The driver declined a search, but when told that a Drug K-9 was en route to the scene the passenger stated that there was a small bag of marijuana in the vehicle.  The passenger then reached in the vehicle and handed it to the Officer.

While conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle the Officer located a back zip up pouch that contained a clear plastic bag that contained a crystal like substance. The pouch was located in the passenger door compartment where the passenger was seated.

The passenger identified as Jon Leftick age 33 was arrested charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and other charges and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
