Intoxicated Driver Causes Fatal Accident

RYE, May 6, 2015 – Tuesday at 11:48 AM an intoxicated driver caused a fatal accident on SH 146 in front of Southdown Liquor in Rye.

According to reports James Dean Shaw age 43 of Livingston was driving his Jeep southbound on SH 146 when he failed to yield right of way turning left into a private drive and drove into the path another Jeep driven by Mindy Beth Richardson age 41 of Lufkin traveling north.

Richardson was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston suffering serious injuries.

Shaw was transported to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition.

Shaw’s had two children and one adult passenger.

Shaw’s adult passenger Gerald Lynn Potts II age 21 of Cleveland was killed in the accident. Justice of the Peace Cody Parrish conducted the inquest pronouncing Potts dead at the scene.

Both of Shaw’s child passengers, John Real age 13 and Joseph Winkelspecht age 12 were transported to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment suffering critical injuries.

According to reports, James Dean Shaw was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
