Homicide in Ames
AMES, February 11, 2015 - A 911 call to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Dispatcher at 5:54 am this morning sent Deputy William Candelari to what was originally called in as a civil disturbance. Prior to the arrival of Dep. Candelari a second call reported that a man had been shot. Upon the arrival of deputies, a man later identified as Tracy Holmes, age undetermined, was found lying in the intersection of Baker Circle and Kellum Street in the City of Ames, Texas, deceased from a gunshot to the head.
At some point in this confrontation, according to Sgt. Knox, Brandon Jenkins shot Tracy Holmes in the head with a hand gun and after the shooting, fled the immediate scene and was not available when Deputies arrived.
A search of the area resulted in Deputy Candelari and Deputy Gordon Bean locating Jenkins hiding in a shed nearby. He was arrested and placed in the County jail and charged with murder.
Sgt. Knox stated that several of the facts are not clear at this point but the investigation is continuing to determine all factors involved.
