Drug Arrest of Arkansas Man on US 59

LIBERTY, March 9, 2015 - It appears from the way drug arrests are being made by Liberty County Criminal Interdiction Unit Sheriff Rader and his highly skilled team, headed by Sgt. Tim Niemeyer, are busy tackling the expanding drug problem in Arkansas.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, the Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a blue Chevrolet Van from Nashville, Arkansas at approximately 11:30am in the 800 block of Hwy. 59 near Cleveland, Texas for defective brake lights. Upon making contact with the driver, Wayne Emmitt Hupp.

Deputies could smell a strong odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Hupp admitted to Deputies the use of Marijuana which resulted in a search of the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, Deputies located a new cardboard box that contained eleven (11) one pound bundles of Marijuana for a total of approximately eleven (11) pounds. Wayne Hupp age 48 of Nashvile Arkansas was arrested and transported to the Liberty County jail where he was charged with “Possession of Marijuana” ( More than 5 lbs. but less than 50 lbs.) which is a 3rd. degree Felony. Bond was set at $100,000 dollars.
