Two Vehicle Crash on SH 146
DAYTON, February 4, 2015 - Around 4:07 PM a two vehicle major accident occurred on SH 146 south of Dayton at CR 4922.
A black, Honda sedan was traveling south on SH 146 and crashed into the rear of a Toyota 4 Runner turning right onto CR 4922.
The driver of the Honda, Alberto Frias age 26 of Dayton told Officers he was looking down at his watch and failed to notice the Toyota turning in front of him.
The force of the collision caused both vehicle to begin spinning in the roadway and the Honda came to rest in the turn lane of SH 146 with the 4 Runner coming to rest in the ditch.
The southbound lanes of SH 146 were closed to traffic and impassible.
Several police units from the Dayton Police Department responded to the scene as did the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty County EMS.
The driver of the Toyota was Karen Lazano age 26 of Dayton. Her passengers were Vanessa Cruz age 36 of Dayton, Romeo Romero age 4 and Destiny Alasa age 7.
Romero was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and both children were transported by Life Flight from a temporary landing zone at the crash scene to Hermann Hospital.
Karen Lazano was transported to Hermann Hospital by ground ambulance.
