Rex Evans Candidate for Liberty County Sheriff

LIBERTY, October 1, 2015 -  My name is Rex Evans, I have a combined 25 years’ experience in Law Enforcement. Fifteen of those years were in Harris County, Texas. Those years were very humbling and rewarding because I was carrying on a tradition that started with my Grandfather continuing with my Father, resulting in a 3 generation tradition in Harris County Law Enforcement.

Later I joined the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and worked night shift patrol. In 2011 I was promoted to the rank of Captain and served in this capacity over the Patrol and Detective Division. I also served as the Department’s Public Information Officer.

In Late 2012 I was selected by a review board process to be Chief of police for Cleveland ISD Police Department. When I arrived, I completed a comprehensive review of the entire Department, finding many deficiencies and a lack of efficient and effective service.  With the support of the Superintendent of Schools and the School Board, we are now able to deliver the service and dedication of an award winning Law Enforcement Agency and true leadership in School Based Law Enforcement.

By reaching out to organizations, corporations and the community, I was able to obtain substantial donations to help bring the Department to a more modern, trustworthy and safe standard. One of the first items purchased were Body Camera’s for each Officer. This helped instantly instill trust in our Department, its Officers and our core mission, which is to protect and defend our most valuable resource, that being our children.

I see a bright future for Liberty County with its potential economic development and growth. I want to insure our Sheriff’s Office is able to perform at the level it should to insure this success. I certainly believe the Department can accomplish this goal.

As Sheriff, I would work closely with, not against, our Liberty County Commissioners and County Judge to ensure seamless, responsible fiscal management of funds, equipment and personnel. This effort is to maximize every tax dollar spent by the Sheriff’s Office.

All of this has culminated to my decision to announce my candidacy to be your next Sheriff of Liberty County. I have a plan. I am prepared.  I can lead efficiently and effectively, making the critical decisions which must be made to ensure fair, transparent and honest service to the community which we serve.

I know I am asking for one of the most important and significant things which we, as Americans have. You’re Vote. I believe, should you decide to tender your Vote for me, Rex Evans, for Sheriff of Liberty County, on Election Day, March 1, 2016.  I can and will provide to you, one of, if not the finest Sheriff’s Office in the entire State of Texas. It can be done and together, we will make it happen.

  • Realignment of Sheriff’s Office personnel and resources, we can allow for more pro-active, highly visible patrols through our neighborhoods and communities, making our families safety our top priority.
  • I will ensure a more financially efficient and effective operation for all of the citizens of Liberty County. A conservative approach to Sheriff’s Office operations is a responsible, yet highly effective proven management technique.
  • I would employ Body Cameras for Deputies and Mobile Computers for each Patrol Car. These two key implements can have a significant impact on ensuring documented, fair and equal treatment towards the public.
  • I intend to work towards solving more crime and focusing on our Criminal Case load to improve our overall Investigative operations. This action would help increase overall public safety throughout unincorporated Liberty County.
