Liberty County EMS to Host State ot Rural Telemedicine Event

DAYTON, September 21, 2015 - Liberty County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will host a “State of Rural Telemedicine” event to report on the organization’s  lead role in the use of innovative technology allowing live video and real-time data to stream directly to hospital emergency rooms.
The event will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the Dayton Community Center and will feature Houston Methodist® San Jacinto Hospital’s CEO, LifeBot® and Medicus Rescue representatives and a live simulation of the technology.

Fifteen years ago, Liberty County EMS was selected by the late Dr. Red Duke, Texas A&M University and University of Texas Health Science Center to lead the way in EMS Telemedicine and Mobile Integrated Healthcare functioning as the test bed for field trials and research and development for the military DREAMS Project.

In May, Houston Methodist® San Jacinto Hospital and Liberty County Emergency Medical Services began using LifeBot DREAMS which enables live video, voice and vital sign data transmissions from an ambulance while transporting a patient to the hospital.

The public is invited to attend.
