Maci Feed Store Burglary

HARDIN, July 21, 2015 - On Saturday morning, July 18th.  at 6:38am, the Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher received a burglary call at the Maci Feed store located at 10769 SH 146N Deputy John Bennet, who was booking two prisoners into the county jail, was assigned the call after he cleared the jail facility.

Upon the arrival of Dep. Bennet and from talking to the owner of the business, it was determined that from a video surveillance camera, it appeared the burglary took place at approximately 3:25 am that same morning. Dep. Bennet reported the security camera recorded what was described as a young white male, probably a juvenile, with no shoes or shirt and dressed only in what appeared to be a pair of boxer underwear shorts broke out a front window of the establishment and entered the store. Due to the fact the video was black and white, it was not possible to determine the color of the shorts. However, from blood found at the point of entry it appears the burglary suspect was cut by glass as he entered the business. Once inside, the suspect stole three handguns and an inventory was being conducted by the owner to determine if any other property was missing.

Dep. Bennet collected blood samples from the scene and it has already been submitted for a DNA analysis. The Deputy also said that due to the early morning hour, it was not possible to down load the security video but was done later and it will be examined in more detail by the follow up detectives for a possible positive identification and/or description of the young male burglar. Lead Investigator Sgt. Paul Lasco stated that it is believed the young suspect lives in the nearby area and anyone knowing of a young white male who fits this description and has a cut to his body is ask to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 and provide that information.
In addition, anyone having information on this case can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867 and provide information that may lead to the arrest of this burglary suspect. The caller will remain anonymous and can receive a cash reward upon the arrest of the burglary suspect.
