Stabbing in Big Thicket Estates

LIBERTY, August 9, 2015 - A “911” call to the Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatcher at approximately 6:56 pm Saturday evening reported the stabbing of a man later identified as Thomas Mathew Dillon, age 55 who lives on CR 2727 in the Big Thicket Estates Sub-Division of Liberty County. First reports were that the suspect known at this time as only David Jones aka “Josie” was still at the scene but upon the arrival of Sgt. Michelle Deshotel and Deputy Kenneth Taylor, Jones had fled the scene and is still at large and being sought by the Sheriff’s Deputies for questioning.

According to Sgt. Deshotel there was a bar-b-q party at the home of Jones wife of whom he is presently separated and going through a divorce. The victim, Thomas Dillon lives next door on CR 2727 and was also attending the bar-b-q outing. At some point in the party, as it was reported to Deputy Taylor, David Jones was getting ready to leave the party to go to where he is now living when Thomas Dillon offered to drive him home because Jones was too intoxicated to drive.  It appears that an argument developed between the two men and that is when Jones stabbed Dillon in the left lower back just above the beltline with what appeared to be a “Case” type pocket knife.

The knife was still imbedded in Dillon’s back when he was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont in unknown condition.

At the present time, David Jones aka  “Josie” , white male reported to be in his late 50’s and is thought to live somewhere in the Big Thicket Sub-Division area is still being sought for questioning by Investigators. At the present time no charges have been filed until further details of this case can be determined by investigators.

Anyone having information on the whereabouts of David Jones is ask to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 and provide that information.
