Sexual Assault on FM 1413 in Liberty County
DAYTON, December 6, 2015 – At approximately 5:30pm this evening, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported sexual assault that occurred sometime between 4:pm and 5:pm on FM 1413 just off Hwy. 90 in west Liberty County. The unknown male suspect had fled the scene earlier after completing the sexual assault with the female victim.
According to lead patrol Sheriff’s Deputy Shelly Edwards, the 30 year old victim reported that she had a flat on her vehicle in front of the Valero gas station at 9499 U.S. 90 west. The victim reported that an unknown black male pulled up behind her and offered to change her flat tire, which he did. The suspect then told the victim that he noticed a “line” under her car that was damaged and if she would follow him to his home where he had the necessary tools, he would repair the broken line for her. The victim followed the suspect down FM 1413 when the suspect pulled into a dirt road near an oil tank depot, where he got out of his truck to, allegedly, check the “line” to be sure it was safe for her to continue driving. He told her to sit in his truck while he checked her vehicle.
Upon completing the “inspection” of her vehicle, the suspect returned to his truck where he forced the struggling victim down on the seat of his truck and committed the sexual assault. After the assault, the victim ran to her vehicle and in her haste to drive away, she reports that her open car door struck the suspect’s truck somewhere on the side of his vehicle.
Deputies have checked with the staff at the Valero station where there are several security cameras in place as it is though there is a good possibility the suspect and his vehicle may have been recorded. However, the manager of the station will not be in until Monday so there will be a delay in viewing the security camera footage. When the security camera footage becomes available, investigator will review the footage to possibly ascertain the identity of the suspect and a description of his vehicle.
The victim described the suspect as an unknown black male, 6’-0” and “chubby”. He is described as having black skin, short curly hair and graying at the temples. The suspect was wearing blue jeans and old work boots with paint on them.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as being a Chevrolet 2 dr. extended cab pick-up truck with chrome wheels, red in color with a bench seat. The suspect has several black colored “Christmas tree” car air fresheners hanging inside his truck. It should also be noted that there may possibly be body damage to the suspect’s truck from the victim’s car door as she sped away from the assault scene.Anyone having information regarding this case is urged to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division at (936) 336-4500 or Crime Stoppers at 1- (800) 392-7867.
