Aggravated Robbery in Dayton
DAYTON, July 22, 2015 - On Sunday July 19th 2015 at approx. 8:00 am the Dayton Police Department received a 911 call from Calhoun’s County Store located in the 6600 blk of SH321. The caller informed the dispatcher the store had been robbed at gun point and the suspect had fled on foot.
When officers arrived it was learned a W/M entered the store selected a few items and placed them on the counter, he then pulled a handgun from his waistband, pointed it at the clerk and demanded all the money from the registrar.
As the suspect exited the store, he began to argue with the driver of the vehicle the suspect had arrived in, giving the owner of the store time to retrieve a firearm. The owner pointed his firearm at the suspect and told him to drop his weapon. The suspect dropped the money he had stolen and fled on foot to backside of the property.
Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Department of Criminal Justice arrived to assist Dayton PD with the man hunt. After a short search on foot and with the TDCJ blood hounds, DPS Trooper Chris McCarty located and detained the suspect.
