Commissioners Pass Agenda Item

LIBERTY, January 13, 2015 – Today at the Liberty County Commissioners Court meeting Item 18 on the Commissioners Court Agenda reads, “DISCUSSION AND TAKE ACTION UPON THE COMPLETION OF AN ELECTION, AN OUTGOING ELECTED OFFICIAL MAY NOT BUY, SELL AND/OR DISCARD ANY MACHINERY, EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, OFFICE
EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, OFFICE RECORDS AND/OR PAPERWORK UNLESS IT IS APPROVED BY THE CURRENT COMMISSIONERS IN A POSTED COMMISSIONERS COURT MEETING - PCT.#4.”

County Attorney Wes Hinch spoke near the beginning of discussion indicating that everything had been worked out between Commissioners McCarty, Lowery and Wilson and discussion was confined to the agenda item and not what had transpired in the time leading up to Commissioner Wilson taking office.

Hinch also stated that this would be a policy NOT a law that would warrant criminal penalties.

Wilson did say during discussion that, “My foreman and I walked in the door and he has nothing to do the job with.”

The Agenda item passed by unanimous vote of Commissioners Court.
