Trinity River Flooding Status

LIBERTY, June 12, 2015 – On June 12, 2015 at 5:00 PM the Lake Livingston Dam release REMAINS at 68,200 cubic feet per second.

Trinity River levels:

Romayor 36.7

Liberty 29.5 ( 3.5 feet above flood stage)

Moss Bluff 14.3 ( 2.3 feet above flood stage)

We do not anticipate any relief from the flooding over the weekend as the current release rate from the dam is expected to continue.

We are watching an approaching weather system for the potential of heavy rain over the weekend and will work to keep everyone informed.

The Trinity River in Liberty has been above flood stage since May 14th and in major flood stage (above 29 feet) since May 22nd. We continue to receive calls from frustrated residents wondering when and if FEMA will be issuing a disaster declaration for Individual Assistance (IA) for residents affected by the flood and as of this writing, no word has been received from the state indicating that we have been added to the federal IA declaration.

A lot of folks are working very hard, including our local Red Cross representatives, to help victims living along the river and we appreciate their efforts. The Red Cross Shelter remains open at 318 San Jacinto Street in Liberty.

We will continue to monitor conditions and urge residents to stay abreast of weather conditions over the weekend. Should you decide you want to leave your home and take refuge in the shelter you can call 936-336-4500 ext 0. Please make decisions in the daylight hours.

If you have an emergency please call 911.
