Disaster Recovery Center Closing
LIBERTY, July 16, 2015 - The Liberty County Office of Emergency Management would like remind residents that the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, located at 318 San Jacinto Street in Liberty, will be closing at 6 pm Friday July 17th.
Residents that have been affected by the flood and would like to speak face to face with a representative of FEMA or the Small Business Administration should make plans to visit the facility before they close tomorrow.
FEMA has been at the location for the past 10 days and County Judge Jay Knight would like to express his appreciation for all the hard work that has been done by FEMA personnel, volunteers from the American Red Cross, Small Business Administration staff members, and of course all the local church and business organizations that stepped up to help their neighbors.
Local residents can file a claim with FEMA until August 27th for damages received from the flooding. Call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 or go on line to register at www.fema.gov.
As of July 15th, 577 people in Liberty County have registered for individual assistance and FEMA has paid out $ 522,000.00 dollars in individual assistance to Liberty County residents affected by the flood.
The latest release from the Livingston Dam has been reduced to 18,000 cubic feet per second and things are certainly improving as we move through the recovery stage of this event.
