Disaster Recovery Center Open in Liberty
LIBERTY, July 10, 2015 - Just wanted to remind everyone that FEMA has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) here in Liberty County for residents that have been affected by the continuing flood event.
The DRC is located at 318 San Jacinto Street in Liberty, this is the same sight where we previously established a Red Cross Shelter. Hours of operation are 9am to 6 pm during the week and 9am to 2 pm on Saturday, closed on Sunday.
The center will be in operation until next Friday July 17th.
Residents should register with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-3362 or they can register at the DRC. Residents that have questions regarding the FEMA reimbursement eligibility process can visit with a number of agency representatives at the center, including FEMA, the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the American Red Cross.
The Trinity River is in its 57th day above flood stage, however, the only location still above flood stage is Moss Bluff , where the level is currently at 12.5, or just a little above the flood stage of 12.2.
The Lake Livingston Dam continues to release 28,400 CFS, well above the normal 1000 to 2000 cfs release we see on a normal day. The lake remains nearly a foot above normal pool level, however,we do not anticipate any increase in the release from the dam at this time as conditions up stream of the dam are stabilizing.
