Trinity River Status
LIBERTY, June 24, 2015 - On June 24, 2015 at 4:00 pm the latest release from the Lake Livingston Dam is 53,000 cubic feet per second. The lake level is 131.5.
With the reduction in the discharge rate, we should begin to see a fall in river levels soon. The latest gauge readings show Romayor has fallen to 35.49.
Liberty at 29.5 and Moss Bluff at 14.5, are both stable but remain well above flood stage. We should start seeing a slow drop at these two locations over the next 24 to 48 hours.
We are hopeful that residents living in the affected subdivisions along the river will be able to return to their homes by the end of this week or over the weekend, it simply depends on how quickly the water drains.
There are 56 people at the Liberty Shelter, and the Cleveland Shelter is set to close on Friday as the residents that were staying there are receiving assistance from FEMA.
FEMA representatives are meeting with the residents that are staying at the Liberty Shelter and it is our hope that we can clear all the residents from this shelter very soon and get them back to their homes or into temporary housing that will be provided through FEMA.
