Trinity River Status
AHTENS June 23, 2015 - On June 23 at 1:30 pm the Lake Livingston Dam release has been DECREASED for the first time in 3 weeks. The current discharge rate is 64,700, and although there is a long way to go before the Trinity River gets below flood stage, this latest move gives us cautious optimism that maybe we have seen the worst.
Today marks the 41st day above flood stage and the 33rd day above major flood stage along the Trinity River. This is the longest duration flood anyone locally can remember and even with the slight decrease in the flow, it will be several more days before we see any real relief.
Current gauge readings show that Romayor is at 36.8
Liberty is at 29.5 ( 3.5 feet above flood stage)
Moss Bluff is at 14.5 ( 2.3 feet above flood stage)
The Red Cross Shelter in Liberty is at capacity and representatives in charge of the shelter operations are asking residents that need shelter to go to the Calvary Baptist Church, 816 North Blair, in Cleveland.
FEMA is in town and has started meeting with residents that are affected by the flood waters. Over 300 people have filed for assistance so far and residents that have not registered should contact FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.
