Trinity River Flooding

LIBERTY, May 19, 2015 - Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch issued the following statement Tuesday afternoon.

As of 4 pm the release rate at the Lake Livingston Dam is 58,200 cubic feet per second. No increases are anticipated in the release for the time being, the lake appears to be stabilizing and we are cautiously optimistic that additional increases in the release rate will not be necessary.

The river level at Romayor is currently 34.21 and projections take it to 35 feet by late Wednesday. Flood stage here is 40 feet.

The river level at Liberty is at 28.45 and it is projected to rise to 28.6 early Friday morning. Flood stage in Liberty is 26 feet

The gauge at Moss Bluff is experiencing technical difficulties and the current reading is unavailable. The last reading of 13.79 was recorded at 8 45 pm last night. Flood stage in Moss Bluff is 12.2 feet

The only impact so far is water over some of the roads in the riverfront subdivisions.

At this time, we do not anticipate any homes being flooded, however, we will continue to monitor conditions and issue advisories as warranted.

Residents are urged to monitor local media for updates and stay away from the river until conditions improve.
