LIBERTY, December 15, 2015 – The Liberty County Office of Emergency Management (LCOEM) just received information that the Trinity River Authority (TRA) has decided that they do not feel the lake is dropping fast enough to accommodate the incoming flow and they have decided to increase the release downstream of the Livingston Dam to 74,800 cfs.
Obviously this will have an effect on the level of the Trinity River here in Liberty County as well as in San Jacinto and Polk Counties over the coming days. Residents living along the river should monitor local media over the next few days for information, there is no immediate risk to residents in Liberty County tonight and we will be evaluating the new data and issue guidance tomorrow.
The one thing we know for certain is that water will continue to cover roadways in riverfront subdivisions, we just do not know specifically how the decision by TRA to drop the lake level will effect the overall duration of this event.
Updates as warranted.
