Two Arrested for Using Synthetic Marijuana
LIBERTY September 1, 2015 – On Friday, August 28, 2015 around 2:55 AM Officers with the Liberty Police Department were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the area of Jefferson Drive and North Travis Street. The Officer first observed the vehicle traveling east on US 90. The Officer then observed the vehicle change lanes without signaling and pass a vehicle in the right lane.
The Officer then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 2100 block of Hwy 146 Bypass.
Upon making contact with both of the occupants Officers detected a burnt odor that they know to be synthetic marijuana. The occupants then admitted that it had been smoked in the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, ten partially burnt cigarettes filled with synthetic marijuana were found.
Both Edmund Benoit age 21, the driver, and his passenger Justin Zickefoose age 21 admitted to using the contraband.
Both subjects were then arrested, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substnace and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
