Wife of New Liberty County DPS Sgt. Arrested

LIBERTY, March 19, 2014 - Liberty County Attorney Wes Hinch confirmed today that Magen Willoughby age 28 of Cleveland, wife of newly promoted Liberty County DPS Sgt. Rob Willoughby, was arraigned in a Liberty County Court on charges of Class B, Theft today.

Robert “Rob” Willoughby is a native of Liberty, TX and was named Liberty County DPS Sgt. on December 5, 2013. Rob Willoughby was a Corporal with the local DPS Office for four years prior to his promotion. According to other news sources Rob and Megan have two children ages 1 and 6 years old.

The charges stem from Megan Willoughby’s arrest on March 6, 2014 at 12:25PM by the Cleveland Police Department for shoplifting $50.50 worth of merchandise from the Wal-Mart in Cleveland, TX. The merchandise consisted of fabric paint and teeth whitening strips. Willoughby posted a $500 PR Bond in Cleveland and was not transported to the Liberty County Jail.

The County Attorney’s Office is the prosecutor and is currently looking into offering a pretrial diversion in this case to avoid a trial and conviction after considering any previous criminal history and other factors according to County Attorney Wes Hinch.
