Thieves Make Off with Merchandise LIBERTY, January 23, 2014 - Liberty Police were summoned to Wal-Mart to investigate a theft on January 17, 2014.

A male subject had entered the store selected a pellet rifle, two 32” Televisions and Sound Bars and exited the store through the fire exit making off with the merchandise. The case remains under investigation by the department. No arrests have been made.

Woman Hides in Woods after Wal-Mart Theft LIBERTY, January 23, 2014 - On January 17, 2014 a female exited the Wal-Mart store passing all points of sale without paying for the items she selected in the store.

She made it across the parking lot and the SH 146 Bypass with the stolen items.

She was identified as Melinda Cobb-Kent and was located off Mizzell Road hiding in the woods behind Smart’s Oilfield Services.

Taken from the store was three Elmo Socks, Febreeze Legging Ties, Minnie Mouse Socks and a work light valued at $61.20. Melinda Cobb-Kent was taken into custody charged with Organized Retail Theft and transported to the Liberty County Jail. Cobb-Kent has an extensive criminal arrest record in Liberty County.
