Wal-Mart Shoplifters Seek More Security

LIBERTY, March 4, 2014 – Around 7:00 PM on November 15, 2013 the City of Liberty Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart to speak with Loss Prevention learning a male and a female that had entered the store and selected items they did not pay for. While one of the couple retrieved a vehicle to make a get a way, the other ran out of the store with the stolen items.

The items taken from the store included a Security System, Surveillance System and a back pack totaling $608.00 dollars of merchandise.

The investigation focused on reviewing video surveillance to determine the identities of the two individuals and warrants were issued for the arrest of April Turner and James Pennington.

The warrant for the arrest of April Turner age 29 was served on February 27, 2014 and Turner was charged with Organized Retail Theft and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
An outstanding warrant for James Pennington still remains unserved at the present time and he was wanted by police.

Pennington was arrested for Organized Retail Theft at the Liberty Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve for the theft of two Cammo Jackets and fled into the woods across the parking lot being pursued by Loss Prevention in a separate incident.
