Motel Theft Ring Moves to Dayton
DAYTON, April 4, 2014 – On Monday March 3, 20141 Dayton Police responded to the Union Pacific Yard on Depot Street for the theft of a Mig Welding Machine and welding equipment that had been stolen. During the investigation a campsite was located on a nearby vacant, overgrown lot where a house had once been and a tent had been erected.
As Dayton Police approached the campsite a white male took off running from the campsite and a second white male popped out of the woods and was pursued to the Family Dollar Store.
Jack Owens age 38 was located at the Family Dollar and Shawn Jordan was the second male found hiding in the woods.
There was a female identified as Heather Collins age 35 found in the woods near the campsite as well.
The Mig Welder and some welding leads that had already been stripped were recovered at the campsite.
Later in the day the second man, Shawn Jordan age 34 found at the campsite was spotted by a private citizen and resisted arrest.
Jack Owens and Shawn Jordan were the two individuals charged with Burglary of the City Warehouse in Liberty and were operating a theft ring out of a room at the Inn at Liberty Motel.

Owens and Collins were charged with Theft by Possession and Shawn Jordan was filed on for Theft by Possession, Resisting arrest, Evading Arrest and Escape.
All were transported to the Liberty County Jail.
