Sex Offender Arrested in Chambers County

ANAHUAC, September 2, 2014 - Sheriff Brian C. Hawthorne reports that on August 29, 2014, Joseph Ira Olson was arresedt without incident for the offense of, Sex Offender’s Duty to Register.

The arrest warrant was issued for Joseph Olson at his residence located at 17103 Choctaw Drive in Chambers County, Baytown Texas.

The Chambers County Criminal Investigative Division along with Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to execute the warrant for Mr. Joseph Olson at his residence but they received no answer at his home. Criminal Investigative Division, Sergeant Erika Yates located Olson hiding inside another residence located near his home. Olson was arrested without incident and transported to the Chambers County Jail.

Joseph Olson was released from the Texas Department of Corrections on August 5, 2014 and was instructed to register as a sex offender in Chambers County within seven days which is mandated by Texas State Law. When Olson failed to register as a Sex Offender within the required time a warrant for the charge of: Sex Offenders Duty to Register Life/Annually was issued. This charge is a felony of the third degree and carries a penalty of 2-10 years imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
