Wanted Man Evades Police and gets Arrested

LIBERTY, December 8, 2014 - Early Sunday morning the City of Liberty Police Department was notified of a burglary in progress in the 2500 block of Cos Street.

When Officers arrived on the scene they checked the residence and found nothing then began patrolling the area.

Officer Walter found an Hispanic man sitting in a driveway on nearby Kentucky Street and stopped to question the man.

The man gave Officer Walter a false name and eventually his identify was determined as, Oscar Ramirez age 36, through his tattoos and the fact that he had a warrant out for his arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon from Florida.

Once this was determined by Officers at the scene they told him to turn around so they could place him in handcuffs and arrest him for the outstanding warrant.

The man bolted running down Kentucky and Centennial Streets with Officer Walter in pursuit. The man was apprehended but kept fighting the Officers and resisting arrest.

At this point Officer Walter deployed his Tazer and the man was arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Ramirez was arrested for Evading Arrest and Detention and the outstanding warrant from Florida.
