Two Arrested in Drug Free Zone

LIBERTY, November 2, 2014 – Around 11:00 PM on Saturday night the City of Liberty Police Department received a call concerning a suspicious vehicle parked on Austin Street in front of the LISD Administration Building. The caller told of the interior light in the vehicle going on and off.

Corporal Frank Longoria of the Liberty Police Department responded to investigate the call.

Upon arrival the male passenger attempted to get out of the vehicle and was instructed to get back into the car.

Corporal Longoria went to the driver’s side of the vehicle to talk to the driver. The female driver did not speak English.

Corporal Longoria observed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  When Longoria went to the passenger side the odor was much stronger.

He asked the woman where the marijuana was and she told him it was in the console. The male passenger, Jose Zuniga age 50 of Liberty threw one baggy of a green leafy substance thought to be marijuana under the front seat.

Both Zuniga and the female driver, Olga Garcia-Flores age 37 of Liberty were arrested for Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
