HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK

LIBERTY, August 17, 2014 - TODAY AND TONIGHT SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AROUND THE GALVESTON BAY AREA AND SPREAD OUT ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS. ADDITIONAL STORMS WILL LIKELY SPREAD INTO THE AREA FROM THE WEST THIS AFTERNOON AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE APPROACHES. A FEW CELLS MAY BRIEFLY PULSE UP TO STRONG LEVELS AND PRODUCE 30 TO 45 MPH WIND GUSTS AND AN INCH OR TWO OF RAINFALL IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX READINGS SHOULD RANGE FROM 100-105 OVER THE INLAND COUNTIES OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND ACROSS THE COASTAL COUNTIES READINGS OF 103 TO 107 WILL BE LIKELY.

MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY MONDAY AND TUESDAY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED EACH DAY WITH THE THREAT OF BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND GUSTY WINDS. THE STORMS ON TUESDAY MAY BE SLOW MOVING AND POSE A SLIGHTLY GREATER THREAT OF HEAVY RAIN.
