Brinkley Murder

ANAHUAC, February 10, 2014 - Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that Larry Dewayne Brinkley 56 of Houston is being held in the Chambers County jail for Murder, a Felony 1st degree.

“We had a road rage incident that turned into murder,” said Sheriff Hawthorne.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on the 31st of January 2014 Brinkley was driving his 15 daughter home when, according to witnesses, he cut off another vehicle on the road.

When Brinkley arrived at the 500 block of Barrow Cemetery Road in Hankamer the other vehicle, which had been cut off, driven by Leslie Larrison, pulled in behind him.

It appears the two got into an argument about Brinkley cutting him off when Brinkley went back to his truck, got a hand gun and shot 54 year old Leslie Larrison, killing him. The victim’s 10 year old grandson, who witnessed the incident, got out of the truck and found his grandfather dead. Brinkley fled the scene and was later apprehended by Chambers County Sheriff's deputies after a brief pursuit. The handgun used in this shooting was found covered in blood and was recovered as evidence. The victim, Leslie Larrison, was unarmed and appears not to have had any previous contact with the suspect prior to this incident. The suspect is being held in Chambers County Jail on $750,000 bond.
